Hmmm....

I'm not sure why it has been so long since I've posted.  I think of clever things I'd like to say.  I think of spiritual insights I'd like to share.  I never seem to take the time to sit down and type when I have things on my mind.  My mind is rather blank today.  Just sitting around the house, spending some time with Caleb, and messing on the computer.  Jeff and I went out earlier today and bought him a new truck.  Well, not really new, it's used, but new to us.  It's a 2002 and has less than 100,000 miles.  That's the newest, least mileage vehicle we own now.  His truck has needed to be replaced for close to a year now so that's one close to necessity to mark off our to-do list.  Hopefully, we can get some stuff paid off and some of the crap vehicles we have out of the driveway  before anything else needs to be replaced.

Well, since I last posted, not only did I survive that upcoming wedding, I have been there and done it again.  #3 is probably looming but hopefully in the distant future (at least 3 years down the line).  I've been very blessed by the mates my two married kids have chosen.  I'm confident that the next one will fit in fine too  When I hear other stories from parents regarding weddings, people their kids have dated, etc, I thank God for protecting my kids from some major hurts and disappointments.  I have proof that God answers prayer when you pray from the time your kids are little that He will guide them in their choices.

Fall is here and I'm afraid I'll have to give up my sandals soon.  I hate real shoes.  I wish I lived somewhere that my toes didn't get cold or I'd not care if my feet are cold here.  Probably neither of those are going to happen so I need to get over it.  I'm not a big winter/cold fan.  I'm already dreaming about spring.  I can't believe that October is 1/2 over already.  I still have some catching up at work to do before it gets super busy again.  But it is Saturday and I don't want to think about it today.

This really isn't worth much but I'm going to try and do better about keeping up with my thoughts.  I know that God is good and I've seen some remarkable workings of His Hand in my life and in the lives of people I love.  I just can't praise Him enough for His goodness to me and my family.  Praise His Holy Name!!

Forever His,

Momma C

Getting ready......

I have today and part of tomorrow to get lots and lots done at the office before I take a 2+ week "vacation".  I think the term vacation might be a little misleading considering all that has to be done in that time period.  Friday is move in day at TNU.  I still have 4 pans of cavatini and 5 batches of rolls to get done for the wedding besides all the other finishing up stuff that has to be done before Sept. 2.  Whoosh, it makes me tired just thinking about it.  I'm so thankful for the refreshing presence of the Holy Spirit that sustains me through times when I can't do it in my own strength.  Praise the Lord for awesome reminders of how much He cares for me....like the Sunday morning service.  Well, I have stuff to do so I'd better get at it.  Hope to see you at the wedding!!

I got it.  If I had a digital camera in my household, I'd post a picture.  It's sweet.  I have acutally purchased 3 digital cameras but......better not go there.  Back to work since I won't be back until Thursday next week.  WOOHOO!!! Florida here I come!!

Well....

It looks like there is a strong possibility of a new vehicle in my near future.  We are just waiting to hear from the credit union about the loan.  If it goes through, I'll be drving a 2001 Honda Odyssey.  It may not be new, but it's different and will be the first time since, I think, 1985 that I haven't had a full size van as my main vehicle.  Leah will be getting a 1999 Toyota Avalon, if all goes well. Of course, the exciting part comes in starting to pay for them.    I think the Jeep is paid for though so....on with the show.  We sure would hate to get a chance to save some money for a change.

Wedding plans are coming along nicely but we are back to the drink dilemma.  The pitchers I found are not priced by the case but by each so for my $40, I got 5 pitchers.  That won't work when I thought we were getting 60.  I went back to the website to see where I screwed up and I thought because it talks about 12 in a case all over the place that we were ordering by the case and pricing by the case.  It doesn't actually say that anywhere so it was just my stupidness, I guess.  So do I keep the 5 I have or send them back.  I might have to go back and read their refund policy before I make that decision.

Oh, contrary to my last post, I will be in Florida for Jake's last Sunday.   Unfortunately, I'll be the only one there.  I'm flying down Saturday night after Katie's shower at the church and driving back with Jake.  For some reason, my sister and niece are finding great giggles in imagining me in the Jeep with no A/C for 2 days driving back from Florida.  I think I can handle it.  We'll see if I can still walk by the time we actually get back.

I did get to spend a wonderful day at District Assembly, the highlight being after assembly was over, riding in the minibus and eating supper with some of my favorite kids from ONU.  It was a great time.  Thanks, kids, for including me.

That's all the procrastinating I'd better do today.  More later......

Random thoughts while my mind is otherwise unoccupied:

Wow, where have the last 2 months gone.  I guess they've been full of work, graduation, wedding plans, etc.  I can't hardly keep up with myself.  I'm so happy that Justin got his job at WIL Research.  I hope it is a good thing for him.  I know he is excited to do something other than factory work and to use his education.  I'm bummed because it doesn't look like a Florida trip in August is going to become a reality.  Too much other reality pushing in there and interfering with my overwhelming desire to relax, be lazy, and swim.  I really wanted to be there for Jake's last Sunday too.  Big time BUMMER!!  Things at the office are rather slow right now, I guess that's why I'm updating while at work.  My boss and his wife are in California right now.  They went for a little family vacation while their oldest (daughter) went to soccer camp at Point Loma Nazarene University where she is considering attending after she graduates from HS next year.  Long story short...no soccer camp for Abbey...this "vacation" turned into 2 vistis to the emergency room and now a hospital admission.  Hmm, not sure when they will be able to come back now either.  They definitely aren't coming back today as planned.  Pray for Abbey if she comes to your mind; Randy and Brenda too, they are very worried about her.  Wedding plans seem to be going well until we stop and talk about things we hadn't thought about before.  I know millions of weddings have happened before and this will all work out but sometimes I wonder how it will all get done.  Caleb & Leah are going to AYC next week with McCrary's.  No kids for most of a week!!  Bummer is that it is Jeff's week to work, too.  I guess I'll spend most every evening and night alone next week.  If you want to do something, let me know.  I think we have most of what Leah needs for her dorm room.  I guess we do still need to visit the refrigerator issue.  Hmmm, I'd forgotten about that one.  I know she is looking forward to getting moved and started with her new adventure.  She still needs a vehicle.  We have been looking but Jeff likes to look and look.  He downloads a lot off of cars.com, calls about some, they have test driven a couple but I guess that magic THIS IS IT hasn't happened yet.  It will come, I know.  Leah (and, I admit, me too) are having a little bit of a hard time being patient.  Caleb now has a job at Hollister in Castleton.  I'm not totally sure how that's going to work since he can't drive until after Nov. 8.  Jeff isn't real thrilled about it and said he isn't running him back and forth.  I'm not super thrilled either but if he sticks with it, it will be worth it to haul him back and forth for a while so he has a job when he can drive again.  He needs something to do.  He doesn't want to do fast food and it is a job so I'm trying to not complain.  If he is scheduled at the same time as Joe, they can ride together but I don't know how much Joe will be working when August starts and football practice/games pick up big time.  I would think he would pretty tight on time.  OK, one more thought before I quit.  Monday is our District Assembly and (at least I hope this is accurate), I will have the opportunity, for the first time this summer, to hear/see/talk to my favorite grouup from ONU.  Can't wait guys...it's been awhile.  And I'll get to meet the "new girl".  (Even though Chelsea is new too, I've already officially "met" her so she doesn't count as a "new girl".)  I suppose that's enough rambling for now.  I'm pretty sure nobody would still be reading anyway after all this boring stuff.  In closing, God is still good all the time and I praise Him for the wonders He has worked for our good.  I'm reminded so many, many times through things that happen with my kids and in my life that He is worthy of all my praise.  I can't praise Him enough.  Love to all my adoring readers that have been clamboring (I think that's the right word) for an update......Until next time.     The Big YC
